{"id":43583,"date":"2017-09-12T04:54:23","date_gmt":"2017-09-12T04:54:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/?p=43583"},"modified":"2017-09-12T04:54:27","modified_gmt":"2017-09-12T04:54:27","slug":"trump-lawyers-wanted-kushner-step-russia-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/news\/trump-lawyers-wanted-kushner-step-russia-probe.html","title":{"rendered":"Trump lawyers wanted Kushner to step down over Russia probe"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Trump lawyers wanted Kushner to step down over Russia probe<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Trump lawyers wanted Kushner to step down over Russia probe:- Several of President Trump\u2019s lawyers advised him earlier this summer that White House adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner should step down from his role over potential legal complications with the ongoing Russia investigation, according to The Wall Street Journal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Sources familiar with the matter told the Journal that some of Trump\u2019s lawyers were concerned about Kushner, who had several meetings with Russian officials during the 2016 presidential campaign, and brought those concerns to Trump himself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Press aides to Trump\u2019s legal team allegedly even went so far as to draft a statement explaining why Kushner was leaving the White House.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The statement, meant to be issued by Kushner, blamed a toxic political environment for turning Kushner\u2019s meeting with a Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign into an attack on Trump.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">That meeting, which was also attended by Donald Trump Jr. and former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, was reportedly a central concern of Trump\u2019s lawyers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The meeting came when Trump\u2019s campaign team was offered potentially damaging information about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Kushner appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee in July to speak about the meeting, which he called a \u201cwaste of our time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The head of Trump\u2019s legal team, John Dowd, said he didn\u2019t agree with Trump\u2019s other lawyers in their assessment of Kushner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cI didn\u2019t agree with that view at all.
