{"id":42422,"date":"2017-08-22T10:29:42","date_gmt":"2017-08-22T10:29:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/?p=42422"},"modified":"2017-08-22T10:29:42","modified_gmt":"2017-08-22T10:29:42","slug":"30-injured-surburban-philadelphia-train-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/news\/30-injured-surburban-philadelphia-train-crash.html","title":{"rendered":"More than 30 injured in surburban Philadelphia train crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">More than 30 injured in surburban Philadelphia train crash<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">More than 30 injured in surburban Philadelphia train crash:- More than 30 people were injured when an inbound train crashed into another that was parked at a station in suburban Philadelphia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">A Norristown High Speed Line train crashed into an unoccupied, parked train at the 69th Street Terminal in Upper Darby around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, said Heather Redfern, spokesperson for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">At least four people suffered serious injuries, according to Upper Darby Mayor Nicholas Micozzie in an early morning news briefing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cThe conductor is in the hospital right now, I can\u2019t release his condition,\u201d Micozzie added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">SEPTA said 33 people aboard the train were injured, and victims were taken to area hospitals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">One passenger told NBC, &#8220;My face hit the wall, put a big hole in the wall and I went straight down and I blacked out. There was blood everywhere.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">&#8220;The driver is all banged up and there was this one girl bleeding out of her face pretty bad,&#8221; he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The cause of the crash remained under investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">SEPTA said there likely would be service disruptions for the Tuesday morning commute.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">In February, four people were injured in a crash near the 69th Street Terminal involving three out-of-service commuter trains. At the time, SEPTA said one train rear-ended another on a loop where trains turn around to get back into service.
