It says its flights will begin next fall with a schedule of six daily flights split between its Denver and San Francisco hubs. United\u2019s Everett service would be in addition to its existing service from Seattle-Tacoma International, which serves as the region\u2019s primary airfield for commercial passenger service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">\u201cBringing new service to Paine Field offers customers more ways to conveniently connect to the country\u2019s largest business and leisure destinations,\u201d Dave Hilfman, United\u2019s senior VP of Worldwide Sales, says in a statement. \u201cWe know our customers value time and convenience when traveling and north Seattle and Northwest Washington area travelers will now have easy access to our hubs in Denver and San Francisco and to opportunities to connect to business centers around the world with just one stop.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">United currently operates 36 daily round-trip flights between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and seven of its hubs (Chicago O\u2019Hare, Denver, Houston Bush Intercontinental, Los Angeles, Newark Liberty, San Francisco and Washington Dulles).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Located about 25 miles north of Seattle, Everett\u2019s Paine Field does not currently have commercial passenger airline service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">But, as home to Boeing\u2019s biggest assembly line, it already is a busy airport that\u2019s well known in aviation circles. Boeing performs final assembly on its 747, 767, 777 and 787 widebody aircraft in Everett. Boeing\u2019s large aircraft keep a heavy flight schedule at the airport, which also hosts some private general aviation flying.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Several airlines have previously suggested they would try to fly from Paine Field, but Alaska Airlines\u2019 announcement in May has emerged as the most serious current effort yet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Seattle-based Alaska Airlines operates its busiest hub at Seattle-Tacoma, which sits on the south side of the city of Seattle. Everett is on the north side, about 40 miles from &#8220;Sea-Tac.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">While Alaska runs a busy hub at Sea-Tac, it touted its planned service at Everett\u2019s Paine Field as a way to expand its reach into the northern stretch of Seattle\u2019s metro area, where travelers can facing daunting traffic on Interstate 5 to get to Seattle-Tacoma.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Alaska Air\u2019s expansion to Everett also comes as its Seattle-Tacoma hub has faced soaring passenger numbers, something that\u2019s partially a result of an ongoing Seattle turf battle between Alaska Air and partner-turned-rival Delta.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Now, with United ready to join Alaska Airlines in Everett, the new passenger facilities there appear that they\u2019ll already be close to capacity as soon as they are completed next year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Propeller Airports, which will develop and operate the passenger terminal, has said it will limit passenger flights to 22 a day and a schedule that operates between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Those parameters came in response to opposition from some local residents fearing passenger flights would lead to an increase in noise, The Seattle Times reports.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">When Alaska Airlines made its announcement, it said it anticipated a schedule of nine daily flights.
