Hawaiian: Airbus A321neos will fly on new year-round routes from West Coast<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Hawaiian: Airbus A321neos will fly on new year-round routes from West Coast:-Hawaiian Airlines will expand its nonstop options between the state\u2019s smaller airports and the U.S. West Coast. The Honolulu-based airline says the three new year-round routes will be enabled by the carrier’s new Airbus A321neo jets, which are due to begin arriving to the company by the end of the year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hawaiian\u2019s inaugural A321neo flight will be Jan. 8, when it begins flying the plane on its existing route between Oakland and Kahului on the island of Maui. Hawaiian is currently using Boeing 767 aircraft between those airports.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first of the new year-round services Hawaiian is launching with the A321neo comes Jan. 18, when the carrier will start non-stop flights between Portland, Ore., and Kahului. Hawaiian\u2019s second new A321neo route launches March 11 with a non-stop route connecting Los Angeles and Kona on the \u201cBig Island\u201d of Hawaii.<\/span><\/p>\n

And on April 11, Hawaiian will put its A321neos into operation between Oakland and Lihue on the island of Kauai. Hawaiian already flies between those destinations, but it does so only on a seasonal schedule that’s currently scheduled to end Sept. 4. When flights resume in April, Hawaiian says the A321neos will enable it to offer year-round service on the route. Currently, the Oakland-Kauai route is flown with Boeing 767 widebody jets, which Hawaiian has begun to phase out.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe introduction of A321neo service to the Western U.S. heralds the dawn of a new era for Hawaiian Airlines and its guests,\u201d Peter Ingram, Hawaiian\u2019s chief commercial officer, says in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hawaiian has ordered 18 of Airbus\u2019 new A321neo, a next-generation update of the jetmaker’s single-aisle model that competes against Boeing\u2019s 737. Hawaiian has touted the new, fuel-efficient plane as a key component of a fleet revitalization plan now underway. In part, Hawaiian\u2019s A321neos will help it phase out its aging 767 widebodies. Hawaiian also could use its efficient new A321s to pick up some routes currently flown by the carrier\u2019s Airbus A330 widebodies, possibly allowing the company to redeploy those longer-range aircraft to new destinations in Asia, Australia or the U.S. East Coast. The A321neo also gives Hawaiian flexibility to open new routes between the Hawaiian islands and cities on the U.S. West Coast.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hawaiian\u2019s A321neos will seat 189 passengers. The layout includes 16 recliner business-class seats, 45 extra-legroom premium economy seats and 128 standard coach-class seats.<\/span><\/p>\n

The three routes revealed this week mark the first publicly announced A321neo routes for Hawaiian.<\/span><\/p>\n
