But new information suggests it might actually be better to skip Apple AAPL +0.99%\u2019s 2017 iPhones altogether\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;color: #000000;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">Asian media giant Nikkei has revealed Apple will upgrade all its iPhones to OLED displays in 2018 compared to just one, extremely expensive new premium model in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;color: #000000;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">Citing \u201ctwo industry sources\u201d, Nikkei\u2019s Debby Wu says Apple\u2019s plans to launch an OLED iPhone 8 and two LCD-based and incrementally upgraded iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus models will get significantly more ambitious next year and demand is likely to lead to shortages across OLED manufacturing worldwide. Wu also says Apple will again launch three new iPhones in 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;color: #000000;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">So why would\/should you hold off for OLED in 2017?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;color: #000000;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">Obviously if you can afford the sky high pricing of the OLED iPhone 8 in 2017 then you won\u2019t need to. But if budget is a concern and you are pushed to the LCD iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus then it is worth bearing in mind OLED not only delivers dramatically better image quality than LCD, but it is also much more power efficient.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;color: #000000;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">Consequently in 2018 even the famously undercooked battery in the 4.7-inch iPhone, might finally get the battery life bump users have deserved (and demanded) for years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;color: #000000;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">Interestingly a universal move to OLED will also enrich Apple\u2019s biggest rival.
