Co (WFC.N) named Allen Parker general counsel on Monday, at a time when the third-largest U.S. lender looks to restore its battered reputation following a scandal over phony accounts.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Parker succeeds company veteran James Strother, who will retire after 30 years with the company, the lender said.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Strother had originally planned to retire by the end of <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">2016,<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"> but stayed on to deal with the fallout from the sales scandal.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Parker is joining from law firm Cravath, Swaine &amp; Moore LLP, where he served as a partner.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">His appointment will be effective March 27, Wells Fargo said.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Parker will be based in San Francisco and will be part of the company&#39;s operating committee.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">The scandal pertains to Wells Fargo opening as many as 2 million accounts in customers&#39;
