\n\tDarren Fichardt of South Africa won the Joburg Open in Johannesburg with a four-under-par 68 that gave him a one-shot victory over Stuart Manley of Wales and Paul Waring of England in a tournament that was shortened to three rounds because of rain and a waterlogged course. Fichardt finished at 15 under for the tournament. The three golfers secured places in this year’s British Open.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tSOUTH KOREAN CLAIMS L.P.G.A. THAILAND Amy Yang of South Korea rarely wavered while holding a big lead during the final round of the L.P.G.A. \n\tAMERICAN TRIUMPHS IN ALPINE COMBINED A stunning run by Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States helped her win the women’s Alpine-combined World Cup race in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, and extend her lead in the overall standings. Shiffrin finished 0.85 of a second ahead of the third-place finisher, Ilka Stuhec of Slovenia, who is the closest challenger for the overall title.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
