Tornado kills 3, injures 4 kids in Alabama: reports<\/span><\/p>\n

A tornado in Alabama killed three people in a mobile home early Wednesday and critically injured four children at a daycare center, according to media reports.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Jackson County coroner’s office confirmed the deaths, in Rosalie in northeastern Alabama, and said there were multiple injuries, AL. com<\/strong> reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

The National Weather Service said that four children were critically injured when a 24-hour daycare center in Idler, DeKalb County, was destroyed.<\/span><\/p>\n

The severe weather that battered portions of the South on Tuesday night also caused damage and some injuries in Mississippi, according to media reports.<\/span><\/p>\n

Destructive storms rushed through parts of northern Alabama Tuesday night, including one that hit Colbert County in the extreme northwest of the state, Weather. com reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

The storms also brought heavy rain to northwestern Alabama, and in the town of Florence, police asked drivers to avoid several flooded roads, AL.com reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the National Weather Service and Weather.com, a possible tornado in Noxubee County, Mississippi, trapped people inside a camp house on Ebenezer Church Road. Four homes were reportedly destroyed along that road.<\/span><\/p>\n

The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for six communities in northwest Alabama Tuesday night, advising residents to take cover.<\/span><\/p>\n

The greatest chance for twisters was in northern Mississippi, although portions of Louisiana, Alabama and Tennessee were also under the gun for big storms, according to the Storm Prediction Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

Damaging winds and large hail was expected to hit those areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

A tornado was spotted northeast of Jackson, Miss., in late afternoon, the Associated Press reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

The National Weather Service<\/strong> issued a tornado watch for Louisiana and Mississippi, where conditions are ripe for twisters to develop, especially through 11 p.m. local time, AccuWeather meteorologist Brian Thompson said.<\/span><\/p>\n

A few severe storms developed Tuesday afternoon, but there were no confirmed reports of tornadoes as of late afternoon. There were 10 reports of tornadoes Monday in Iowa and Louisiana, the prediction center reported.<\/span><\/p>\n
