Thousands of Cubans paid their last respects to Castro in Cuba&#8217;s capital on Monday. He was cremated on Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Venezuela\u2019s Nicol\u00e1s Maduro and Mexico\u2019s Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto were among the leaders expected to travel to Havana for memorial tributes Tuesday. President Obama said he won&#8217;t attend nor will Russian President Vladimir Putin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">On Wednesday, the ashes of the man who ruled Cuba for nearly half a century will start a ceremonial journey to the eastern city of Santiago, <\/span>where in<span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> 1953 he first launched his ultimately successful revolution to take over Cuba.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Castro&#8217;s ashes will be interred in Santiago on Dec. 4.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">For many, Castro is remembered as a brutal dictator who suppressed democracy and human rights and ruined Cuba&#8217;s economy. To his admirers, his reign represents an attempt to forge a socialist society that sent Cuban doctors and teachers around the world.
