HMD global Oy has licensed the popular brand name from the former Finnish powerhouse, and is expected to announce a number of Android-powered handsets before the end of the year.

We might have seen the styling of the new range, thanks to Quentyn Kennemer of Phandroid. Covering the leak of a rear chassis plate with a prominent Nokia logo on it, it is possible to see two cutouts on the rear of the device (presumably for a camera lens and flash), as well as two silicon strips along the top and bottom edges to offer a radio transparent space for the handset’s antenna.

The former is pretty much standard over the mid-range Android device market (although some manufacturers are placing the fingerprint sensor under the camera lens). The latter feels remarkably like the design cues of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and allows for a minimalist look to the rear of a device – which feels decidedly Nokia.

It’s important to remember that the return of the Nokia name to the market is not the same as a full-blown return of Nokia. The licensing of the name to HMD does offer Nokia input to the process (including brand requirements and minimum device performance levels) but there is no involvement in the day-to-day running of the new company.

On the hardware side, the handsets will be manufactured and distributed by Foxconn subsidiary FIH Mobile. There’s no need for HMD to go about rebuilding Nokia’s industrial prowess and distribution chain when there are more efficient options available in 2016.

This is not how you remember Nokia going about the smartphone business, but it is a Nokia that can work in the current smartphone ecosystem.

That said with a number of former Nokians on staff, the ethos of Nokia will be in the DNA of the company. Pairing that experience up with a modern manufacturer with experience of the ‘smartphone as a commodity’ market and the scene is set for something exciting to happen. It’s also possible that the first devices could end up feeling like ‘off-the-shelf’ handsets that HMD to return to the market and gain experience with a shorter run of handsets.

Source:- http://www.forbes.com/sites/ewanspence/2016/11/08/nokia-c1-android-leaked-images/#488c2cde20c3

New Nokia Android Leak Suggests A Finnish iPhone New Nokia Android Leak Suggests A Finnish iPhone:- The return of the Nokia name to the smartphone market has many in the geekerati excited.
