Rather than relying on a single router that you can place in one room, Google Wifi consists of a set of smaller, neatly-designed devices spread throughout the house in a mesh network.

This way, Google allows users to tap multiple Wi-Fi points to connect and expand coverage in a household. Having multiple tiny routers instead of a single one could solve the issue with big houses that get great Wi-Fi reception in the room where the router is located, but not so great reception in some other room that’s farther from the router.

http://prod.cdn.n.bsvideos.com/videos/91/480.mp4

While Google Wifi is not the company’s first crack at a router, it’s different from its previous OnHub.
