Hoboken train crash: 1 dead, more than 100 injured<\/strong> : New York (CNN)It happened without warning, without time for passengers to realize they were hurtling headlong into a deadly tragedy, without time for commuters standing on the train station platform to flee.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the height of morning rush hour, a New Jersey commuter train packed with passengers and traveling way too fast crashed into Hoboken Terminal, killing a woman waiting on the platform and injuring more than 100 others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Witnesses said the train overran its stopping point, slammed into a bumper block, went airborne and hurtled through a passenger concourse at about 8:45 a.m. at the terminal, one of the busiest transit hubs in the New York area.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fabiola Bittar de Kroon, 34, of Hoboken, was killed, the State Medical Examiner’s office announced. Gov. Chris Christie said the woman had been standing on the platform and was struck by debris.<\/span><\/p>\n

Christie said 114 people were injured.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bhagyesh Shah, who rode in the back of the front car on his way to work, said the train didn’t appear to slow as it entered the station.<\/span><\/p>\n
