New Hampshire woman overdoses on heroin in dollar store as her daughter, 2, stands by<\/strong> : A New Hampshire woman is getting charged with child endangerment after a video surfaced showing her overdosing on heroin in the aisle of a dollar store while her 2-year-old daughter is by her side.<\/span><\/p>\n

The video shows the child crying and tugging at the motionless woman\u2019s arm as she lays unconscious on the floor of the Lawrence, Mass. Family Dollar store on Sunday morning.<\/span><\/p>\n

The woman was revived by emergency medical technicians with two doses of Narcan, an overdose reversal drug, according to MassLive.com.<\/span><\/p>\n

The child was taken by the Department of Children and Families and the woman, who lives in New Hampshire, is facing criminal charges.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very disturbing to see someone obviously in the matter of addiction where it overtakes someone where they\u2019re not able to take care of their child, leaves their child vulnerable,\u201d Lawrence Police Chief James Fitzpatrick told Fox 35.<\/span><\/p>\n

Massachusetts and New Hampshire are two states battling an opioid epidemic.<\/span><\/p>\n

New Hampshire\u2019s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner projects that nearly 500 people will have died due to drug related deaths by the end of 2016, which is up from just over 400 deaths in 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Massachusetts, the heroin overdose rate is more than twice the national average, according to a Boston Globe report. Within the first six months of 2016 alone, 488 people have died of opioid-related deaths.<\/span><\/p>\n
