NEWS5 listed multiple prior offenses for Jones, including a 2007 conviction for manufacture and possession of a controlled substance and a 2011 conviction for theft of property.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; color: #000000;\">After the shooting, the suspect barricaded himself inside his house. Dozens of police vehicles clogged Arkansas 253, a two-lane road that runs through a mix of woods and fields east of Hackett. The town has around 800 residents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; color: #000000;\">James Markward, 72, who lives nearby, said he heard the commotion early Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; color: #000000;\">&#8220;It woke me up this morning, the gunshots. Of course I didn&#8217;t know what was going on,&#8221; Markward told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. &#8220;My neighbor called me and asked if I was shooting, and I said `No, not me.&#8221;&#8216;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; color: #000000;\">\u00a0Markward said the shooting suspect once helped him split wood, but said he hadn&#8217;t seen the man in a few years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; color: #000000;\">&#8220;As far as I know, he was all right,&#8221; he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; color: #000000;\">During the encounter, Jones shot at and damaged a<strong> police robot providing surveillance<\/strong> to the responding officers, Hollenbeck said. In the commotion, a police dog was shot and ran into the woods and remained missing later Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Gov.
